The International Regional Organization for Plant and Animal Health

The International Regional Organization for Plant and Animal Health (OIRSA) is a technical organization established to provide administrative and technical support to the Ministries or Secretariats of Agriculture from its member countries, to protect and develop their agricultural resources in order to achieve a healthy production to satisfy population’s demands and provide well being. OIRSA’s assistance is focused on its member countries’ projects and plans for plant and animal health, food safety and facilitation towards agricultural commerce.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations leads international efforts to defeat hunger. Serving both developed and developing countries, FAO acts as a neutral forum where all nations meet as equals to negotiate agreements and debate policy. FAO is also a source of knowledge and information. We help developing countries and countries in transition modernize and improve agriculture, forestry and fisheries practices and ensure good nutrition for all. Since our founding in 1945, we have focused special attention on developing rural areas, home to 70 percent of the world’s poor and hungry people. FAO’s activities comprise four main areas:

Taiwanese Technical Mission to Belize

Taiwanese Technical Mission to Belize was sent in early 1991 to work with Government and people of Belize in agricultural development. The Mission is comprised of eight members, including a Chief, two Agronomists, a Horticulturist, a Food Processing Specialist, a Mechanic and two Assistants. Presently the mission is carrying out three projects, namely, rice and other agronomic crops, vegetables and fruits, and food processing.

CATIE

CATIE is an international institution focusing on research and graduate education in the agricultural sciences and natural resources, and on environmental aspects related to both. Its mission is to benefit humanity through the application of knowledge, experiences and technologies in order to stimulate development, conservation and the sustainable use of natural resources in the American tropics. It was founded in 1942 as the Inter-American Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IICA) through the good offices of Henry Wallace, then Secretary of Agriculture and later Vice-President of the United States. CATIE seeks a substantive, verifiable impact on regional economic growth and social development in its Member Countries, as well as the conservation of their natural resources and environment.
